The Bow Valley Riptides Swim Club is committed to keeping competitive and non-competitive swimming as affordable as possible for families. With support from the True Sport Youth Fund, they were able to keep club fees low—and spirits at an all-time high.
Banff Skating Club
“It really can be the closest thing to flying,” says Banff Skating Club Coach, Tate Thornton. But looking effortless takes training both on and off the ice.
The Banff Skating Club puts multi-sport into practice by providing athletes access to dance, yoga, fitness, and mindfulness training. Thanks to the True Sport Youth Fund, they were able to give their StarSkaters the physical literacy, life, and leadership skills they need to soar.
Canmore Illusions Gymnastics Club
The costs of operating a premiere gymnastics program can really stack up.
The Canmore Illusions Gymnastics Club sets the bar when it comes to offering quality programming in an accessible and supportive environment. With help from the True Sport Youth Fund, they were able to keep club fees low while providing the equipment and coaching to keep their young athletes flying high.
Banff Canmore Speed Skating Club
What does it take to go fast? The right training and equipment, and a safe and welcoming environment to practice, says Banff Canmore Speed Skating Club Coach, Ian Mellors.
The Banff Canmore Speed Skating Club offers recreational and competitive programming focused on helping kids and adults build their skills safely and effectively. Thanks to the True Sport Youth Fund, they were able to provide athletes with the modern equipment and protective mats needed to get into gear.
Canmore Skating Club
Training with a professional dance partner is a privilege the Canmore Skating Club is proud to offer its members.
Thanks to the True Sport Youth Fund, they were able to give all skaters, from preliminary to gold level, an extra edge by giving them the chance to develop their dance skills and receive feedback in real time from an expert in the industry.
Canmore Indoor Climbing Society
It takes more than challenging routes to attract world-championship level coaches.
The Canmore Indoor Climbing Society is committed to helping athletes ages 8 to 18 reach the top through elite training and competition. Thanks to the True Sport Youth Fund, members of their Junior Team were able to learn the ropes from former Youth World Champion climbers, developing the skills and confidence to crush their goals—at competition and in the community.
Bow Valley Squash Foundation
There’s something universal about squash (and it might have something to do with being able to smack a ball against a wall really, really hard). But as coach Cameron Fishenden describes, there are more benefits to the sport—both on and off the court.
The Bow Valley Squash Foundation is committed to giving athletes of all ages an opportunity to develop life-shaping skills like motivation, confidence, and physical competence. Thanks to the True Sport Youth Fund, they were able to provide the coaching and equipment to get more young athletes in the game.
Canmore Nordic Ski Club – Biathlon
With the opportunity to train every day in a beautiful setting, surrounded by friends and fellow mountain lovers, it’s no wonder the Canmore Nordic Ski Club is the club of choice for biathletes.
The Club offers programming for beginners to advanced skiers, with a mission to promote participation and excellence in the sport. Thanks to support from the True Sport Youth Fund, they were able to remove barriers (by buying rifles) and introduce more participants to the range.
Canmore Minor Soccer Club
Easy to learn and even easier to play, it’s hardly surprising how popular soccer is. In fact, it’s the most common sport worldwide for people of all ages and abilities.
Here in the Bow Valley, the Canmore Minor Soccer Club provides a fun, inclusive, and respectful environment that enables all its members to grow and work towards their chosen pathways. That means coaches too. With support from the True Sport Youth Fund, the Club was able to hire two youth coaches, giving more athletes opportunities to play and coaches opportunities to learn.
Rundle Mountain Cycling Club
From road riding and mountain biking to cyclo-cross, the Rundle Mountain Cycling Club offers adult and youth programs designed to help riders of all ages and abilities develop a lifelong love of the sport. Seeing a significant gender gap in competitive programming, the RMCC set out to create a safe space for young females to bike together, with the goal of getting more to the starting line.
With support from the True Sport Youth Fund, the RMCC was able to develop a subsidized pilot program called Bike HerO, giving young girls the opportunity to try different forms of biking alongside fellow female shredders.
Bow Valley Kayak Club
The Bow Valley Kayak Club is committed to promoting a safe, fun environment for the Bow Valley community to paddle and explore our wonderful outdoors!
They aim to provide access to safe learning and participation in the world of river kayaking. The Bow Valley Kayak Club believes recreation and learning in the outdoors is a vital part of life and will always endeavor to make this accessible to everyone in our community. The True Sport Youth Fund grant allows the Club to keep inscription costs low for some of their programs.
